Closure - one of the Gestalt Principles.
Closure happens when an image is incomplete. When a partial image is seen people perceive the whole by filling in the missing information on their own.
This is a ball valve motorcycle engine that was designed and built by my grandfather, in a Jawa speedway bike frame. The shot was scanned from an old print.
