Closure - one of the Gestalt Principles.
Closure happens when an image is incomplete. When a partial image is seen people perceive the whole by filling in the missing information on their own.
There is a theory that the Conscious is a quantum computer, paired with something else in the universe. So, maybe there is life after death? I have no idea how these stairs led me there....
