Closure - one of the Gestalt Principles. Closure happens when an image is incomplete. When a partial image is seen people perceive the whole by filling in the missing information on their own.

CFL Shadows of the Past.
The incandescent bulb, living in the shadow of the more expensive, not made in the USA, more dangerous, less environmentally safe, and non-universal fit, CFL. Oh yeah, we saved the planet... idiots.
Taken in one shot. The shadow was not added in software. Whole image editing and background cleanup, and a little healing brush on the spoon is the only editing.
I could have used more power and a second diffuser for the bottom flash...Maybe another time...

One below the subject, one above right through diffuser.
How much more can I say?
The shadow shows the true nature.
The spoon always wanted to a fork.
It cannot hide it forking shadow.

Says something about the current economic situation...
It's up to the viewer to figure it out.
Need a clue?
How do you like your fiat money now?

San Francisco CA Panorama
A re-edit of an old pano. June 2004 actually.
See the first one here:

Made from 5 shots from my trusty Canon G3. I either did this handheld, or rested the camera on something like a wall or rock.

CFL Study 1 - Glow
I was thinking of shooting a CFL for a daily contest on curves but chose a different subject. Then this daily contest came up, Light. So I went ahead and tried a few shots.
These were taken with my Oly P&S, since I don't have a macro lens for my Canon 40D.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU BREAK ONE! -insanity ensues-
Compact Fluorescent bulbs are great for the environment, right? Not so fast! The law of unintended, but avoidable consequences strikes again!
Be sure you dispose of them properly!
Yeah, these are so green...

The human offends the collective.
Spotted in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. It had a decent rumble, but it obviously wasn't built for speed. The sign in the rear window said "retired".
The clouds form mythology above any Island.
This image is 2 merged images. The 2 images are below in the comments. I wasn't happy with either one, so I combined them into one image that I like much more. The 2 original images were at different focal lengths and different exposures, and obviously different composure.
I think the result of the merged image is far better than either one individually.. I liked the quality of light, the sky, colors, and angle of view that gives the architecture this feeling of immense size.
I could have made this composition in camera at the time, but apparently I didn't see it like this at the time.
Please feel free to comment or critique.

Resting Bride
My favorite photo I've taken, from a wedding. Not great, but I think it really caught a moment.
no love can be found where none is lost
The rough and uneven cobblestones of San Juan, Puerto Rico. The low light angle is from headlights. This was a quick "see it and snap" type image.
